Schools & MRSA -- Education and Healthcare Communities Receive MRSA Advisory The education and healthcare communities are the target of an advisory pertaining to Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH). Health Advisory #107 dated October 19, 2007 examines both hospital- and community-acquired MRSA.

Since our founding, the Constitution of Pennsylvania has provided for the education of the citizens of this Commonwealth. In colonial days, both the Governor and the ‘Provincial Council’ were tasked to ‘erect and order all publick schools and incourage and reward the authors of usefull sciences and laudable inventions in the said province.’ In 1776, the Constitution held that “a school or schools shall be established each county by the Legislature, for the convenient instruction of youth…,” and in 1790, “the Legislature shall, as soon as conveniently may be, provide by law for the establishment of schools throughout the state, in such manner that the poor may be taught gratis.”
